Lou Billittier's Legacy Lives On

After the death of one of Buffalo's most notable citizens and philanthropist, Lou Billittier's giving ways are still being felt. Having received an array of awards for his community service and charitable work, Lou's legacy is kept alive and well through the work of his children and the Louis J. Billittier Foundation; which began in October 2000.

Many people know the Billittier family as the owners and operators of Chef's Restaurant, an Italian eatery on Seneca Street in Bufflao. Many others remember Lou Billitter because of his steadfast support for local charities. For over 30 years, he faithfully worked on behalf of those in need, working spepifically with such organizations as: The Heritage Centers, Varity Club, Make a Wish, Autistic Services, and The Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The "Tree of Life" logo was inspired by Lou Billittier's devotion to children. No matter what race, age, gender, or need... Lou made it his mission to help children. The Oak Tree stands for the Heritage Centers; which held a special place in his heart. The Hearts in the tree symbolize the Variety Club and all the work Lou did for the club and the telethon. The Children on the logo symbolizes an award that Lou received from Children's Hospital for all his help on behalf of the children of Western New York. If ever a man should be remembered for the positive action taken in life...it would be Lou. Let's hope the seeds he planted in all of us grow into more "Trees of Life" helping others
